Gravity Atlas scoring: pass scores, stars and high scores

Gravity Atlas awards up to 1,000 points per level after an 18-second safe-orbit assessment. Passing scores range from 600 to 760 by chapter; two stars require 800 points and three require 930.

The short answer

Pass at 600–760 points, depending on the chapter. Earn two stars at 800 and three at 930. Only the best passing result per level counts toward the 30,000-point campaign maximum.

What score do I need to pass?

The passing score depends on the chapter. The number shown in the game is the cutoff for that mission. Complete the safe-orbit assessment at or above that number to unlock the next level.

There is no extra rule that rejects an otherwise completed, passing assessment just because part of the orbit extends outside the scoring band. Those excursions reduce the score itself.

What is the orbit score based on?

The game compares the orbit with the target ring over the full assessment, rather than grading one screenshot. It measures orbital size and circularity, then applies a gradual penalty when the estimated closest or farthest point extends outside the marked band.

Those samples are averaged into a final result, rounded to five-point increments, up to 1,000 points. A slightly imperfect orbit can still pass. A wider, less circular orbit or repeated large excursions generally earns fewer points.

The assessment begins only after a safe orbit is acquired and required gravity assists are complete. Pausing stops its timer. Crashing or losing the safe orbit ends the attempt without a passing result.

How many points earn each star?

ResultRequirement
1 starMeet the mission’s passing score
2 stars800 points or more
3 stars930 points or more

For example, a completed 745-point assessment passes a Departure level and earns one star. The same score is below the 760-point cutoff in Deep space and does not pass. A completed 850-point assessment earns two stars in either chapter.

How do replays change my high score?

Your campaign high score is the sum of your best passing result on each of the 30 levels. The maximum is 30,000 points. Attempt scores do not stack: replaying a level improves its contribution only when you beat its previous best.

Suppose your first level best is 700 and your second is 800. Your total is 1,500. Replaying the first level for 950 raises the total to 1,750: an improvement of 250 points. A later 650-point replay leaves that total unchanged.

You can replay any unlocked level. You do not need three stars to progress; the displayed passing score is enough. Use the Levels panel to compare your best results and choose where to improve.

How can I improve an orbit?

Change one launch setting at a time. Angle shapes the approach; power changes initial energy, travel time and encounter timing. More power is not automatically a better orbit. A manageable arrival leaves the finite insertion engine enough reserve to help capture.

On assist missions, first confirm the moving-moon flyby, then judge the arrival at Haven. See the gravity-assist guide for encounter timing and the launch and controls guide for the basics. If a best appears missing, follow the browser-save recovery checks before clearing site data.
