Browser game progress not saving? Save and recovery guide

Small Hours guest progress is saved in browser storage and backed up to the server through an essential save cookie. Recovery depends on which copy remains available; the same physical device can contain more than one browser profile or browsing context.

The short answer

Keep the same website address and browser profile, reconnect, then reload. Check Levels → save status in Gravity Atlas. Local storage or a retained save cookie may recover progress; if both are gone, an anonymous save cannot be reliably reconnected.

Where is my game progress saved?

Gravity Atlas saves your best passing score on each level, stars and unlocked access. Orbit Hop saves your personal best and its recorded time, with rescued bests kept separately. The browser keeps a local copy and the website attempts a server backup.

An essential, HttpOnly save cookie links guest play to that server copy. If local storage is missing but the cookie remains, the game can load the backup. A guest save is not an account and cannot identify you on an unrelated browser or device.

A weaker replay does not lower a best. In Gravity Atlas, only passing results contribute to the campaign total; the last attempt score and your saved personal best can be different.

What should I check when a score looks missing?

  1. Open the same website address: https://smallhourapps.space. A preview address, another hostname or an exported game can have separate storage.
  2. Use the same browser and browser profile. Normal and private windows, another profile, and some in-app browsers can have separate or temporary storage.
  3. Reconnect to the internet and reload once so the game can request its server backup.
  4. In Gravity Atlas, open Levels and read the save-status message. It distinguishes a confirmed server backup from browser-only saving or unavailable storage.
  5. Check whether the browser or a device-cleaning tool removed site data. Do not clear the remaining data as a troubleshooting step: it may contain the surviving copy.

Using the same browser app does not, on its own, explain a missing save. If these checks do not restore it, report the problem so it can be investigated; do not assume the progress was intentionally reset.

Can the server recover a deleted guest save?

If the save cookie remains, a server backup can restore missing local progress. If the local copy remains but the cookie has gone, the game can try to back up that local copy again under a new save link.

If both browser storage and the save cookie are gone, the site has no reliable way to connect that browser to its earlier anonymous save. Enabling sign-in later cannot automatically identify an older guest save whose link was already lost.

Server backup is best effort: connection problems or blocked cookies can prevent confirmation. A successful backup message is more useful than assuming a game was saved simply because it stayed playable.

Will signing in keep progress across devices?

Google sign-in is not available for public use yet. Guest play remains available without registration. Do not rely on cross-device account recovery until the sign-in service is enabled and you have successfully signed in.

When connected, using the same account will reconnect its saved bests and campaign progress. Available guest progress is merged when continuing with Google, preserving higher existing bests. An account is not required to play the games.

Do privacy choices affect saving?

Optional analytics choices and game saving are separate. Declining usage reports does not disable essential save functionality. Anonymous game counts do not contain the save cookie or a persistent player ID and cannot recover a lost score.

Use the feedback button on the website or the small feedback icon in the game to report a save problem. Include the game, browser, approximate last-play time, level or best score, and what the save-status message says. Never send passwords, cookies or sign-in codes. The privacy policy explains how site data is used.
